Well it has been a long time coming this trip!!!

First thought of doing a big trip was discussed with my best mate Andy, when we were dirt biking in the Picos mountains in Spain in September 1997.
Andy had been wanting to do such a trip for some time but there never seemed to be the right time.
Well several beers later we had a plan and a commitment!!
The next morning was a different story!!
But upon return to the UK we discussed it further and again agreed to give it a go.
A lot of Planning and research followed, by Bike purchasing bike modifications and all the huge paperwork for the bike / passports / visas etc, had to be done by the two of us, while we were still working 14 hour days as London Motorbike couriers!!

NO BACK UP STAFF OR 2 MILLION DOLLAR BUDGET FOR US! UNLIKE THE THE OTHER LAUREL AND HARDY CREW THAT MADE THIS SORT OF TRIP LOOK EASY ON TV.

Anyway;
We were ready and had planned to leave in September 2001.
Then DISASTER!!!
At the end of August I got taken out by some asshole in a Volvo and crushed my left ankle and was on crutches for weeks and was not able to ride a bike when our September leave time arrived.
We discussed putting off the adventure, but I knew that if Andy did not go now and he waited for me to get better, he would lose the weather seasons and something else would likely crop up and we would never go!!
Therefore I made the really tough decision NOT to go and urged Andy to embark as planned on his trusty KTM640. After some lengthy discussion he agreed and left on the 4/09/2001.

Life for me, took another path and my wife and I emigrated to Australia in March of 2002.
But, I still wanted to do my own pirates adventure, and now finally,12 years on, my time has come!!

Wise Words

My best friend gave me the best advice; He said each day's a gift and not a given right, Leave no stone unturned, leave your fears behind and try to take the path less traveled.

That first step you take is the longest stride, if today was your last day and tomorrow was too late,

Could you say goodbye to yesterday? ; Would you live each moment like your last?

Against the grain should be a way of life , What's worth the prize is always worth the fight , Every second counts 'cause there's no second try ; So live like you'll never live it twice , Don't take the free ride in your own life

If today was your last day and tomorrow was too late,

Would you call old friends you never see? ; Reminisce of memories, would you forgive your enemies?

Would you make your mark by mending a broken heart? ;

Would you find that one you're dreamin' of? ; And Swear to God above that you finally fall in love

So do whatever it takes, ‘cause the hands of time are never on your side, regardless of who you are.

If today was your last day and tomorrow was too late, could you say you lived your dreams?                         ( Nickelback )
