Hosteria @ Lago Verde - Chile
I stayed in this Hossteria on the 9/12/09, Chile
The hosteria by lago verde in Chile, a not the best hosteria, but for 8000, Chile pesos (AUD$12), you get basic accoumodation but, it includes dinner with bread / soup starter, followed by Mash potato, chops, vegetables, and coffee, all well cooked, it's a good price. THe company is very freindly and helpful.
THe accomodation, is interesting, in that gas bottle supplies the gas for the burner to heat the water, but only lasts 7 minutes, so you need to be quick in the shower,
and yes that is a 2.5 foot long crack in the shower basin,
, so no problem with the water draining away, but you need to be careful you don't fall down the cravase!!! The room has a built in wardrobe, that is minamilistic, yes there is a nail in the wall to hang all your clothes, no need for wardrobes, as this wat you know where all your stuff is :-)
Puerto Montt - Chile
This is a good place to stay, has off street parking, with the gates locked and is very secure. It is run by a retired couple, who are very freindly, bit like staying with your grandparents, so show a bit of maners and respect and all will be good. The rooms are clean and the beds good and the shower is also good.
It is just off the main strip about a 5 minute ride from the port on Street Chorrillos # 1379

Puerto Rio Tranquillo - Chile
This is a tiny place, on the route 7 caraterra Australis, but is quite busy withbackpackers for the various excusions that can be done from here.
A good place to stay and is bike freindly is Hostal Los Pinos, it has double rooms, twins and singles and is Chp$15,000 for a twin per person per night.
THe showers are good, has WiFi, a comfortable dinning area and parlor. Breakfast is included, but dinner is not. however, I recomend the salmon, if on the menue, as is fantastic and only costs, Chp$6,000 = Aud$10.00.
you can park your bikes at the back of the road and out of site.

a much better place to stay is the Hosteria Dyffryn Gwyrdd, in the town of Galman in the Chubut, Patagonia, just off the route25, see their website, http://www.dwhosteria.com.ar/ ,you can email the owners, lovely people realy freindly and helpful they are Pablo and Paula on mailto:patagongales@yahoo.com.ar+ , Tel(02965) 491-777, fax 491-502, mobile (02965) 15 644028. The rooms are clean and the shouwers are hot. People freindly and you can park your bike right out front.
But Beware the Gurad Cat!!!

Argentina -Rio Grande
another really cool place to stay is the hostel Argentino.
It is a listed bulding on the outside dating from 1926 and stared as a tavern and then became a hotel and now is a hostel, but what a hostel!
The inside looks like a hotel, very nice!
There are rooms for Private and there are dorm rooms, I stayed in a dorm room for 50 Pesos for the night!
Argentina - Ushuaia
Campsite - La Pista del Andino.
The Raul and Fernando are great and make a real good coffee, with some very tasty medialunas, my favourite!
It costs 22 pesos for camping per person.
